Toddlers and Tiaras is a show on TLC about kids in pageants. Most people think this show is ridiculous and annoying because it shows five year olds dressed in little outfits wearing a lot of make-up. I personally can’t get enough of this show! Each week they have three children and their family on the show, and what they do is follow these kids through training, preparation, and the pageant. Most of the time the kids are cute and sweet but their mom is absolutely crazy! The mom will make them do these pageants and go through everything crying just so the parent feels good when they see their own kid win a trophy for being pretty. But then you also have the crazy spoiled kid with the push over parent in some episodes if you get lucky. Sometimes they have some children be on the show multiple times because they have crazy personalities. The three most famous toddlers and tiaras are Eden, McKenzie, and Alana. Eden is the top Toddler and Tiara because she has won so many pageants that she is starting to get into singing and acting. McKenzie is personally my favorite because she is so funny and spoiled. And Alana became famous because her and her family are a bunch of fat hicks from Georgia trying to win these big pageants. In this show there are two different kinds of pageants, there are natural and glitz. For natural the girls wear casual dresses with little to no make-up. Natural pageants aren’t as fun to watch as glitz because for glitz you have to go all out in order to become ultimate grand supreme (overall winner). In order to get ready for these you have to get spray tans, eyebrows done, get a flipper (fake teeth), have a 500 dollar or more bedazzled evening dress, fake eyelashes, and big hair pieces. After these five year olds have all of these things on the look like they could be twenty. But that’s what the judge likes to see, and if you don’t have all of those things you could get points deducted. I can understand why some parents don’t like this show but I think it’s great. Maybe I'll even enter my kid in a pageant or two when I become a parent!;) (word count 390)

little miss sunshine

Little Miss Sunshine is a movie about a little girl named olive who really wants to be in beauty pageants. Olive comes from a lower middle class family and the last thing they want to do is drive their eight year old daughter across the country to a pageant she got accepted into. But they do it anyways. They are also not a very happy family. Olive’s mom’s brother tried to commit suicide but failed so now he is in rehab and has to stay with their family until he gets better, so he is all depressed. Olives father Richard is a rude man who only cares about his business and being a winner even though he is a pretty big loser. The threes olives brother who is taking an oath of silence until he becomes a jet pilot in the navy so he hasn’t talked in a long time. Last but not least there is Olive’s grandfather who is addicted to heroin but probably the only person who actually cares about Olive and her pageants. The whole movie is about them taking a trip across the country and the problems they come across. First of all their van doesn’t start unless you give it a push then start it up. Also when they stop at a hotel over night the next morning Olives grandpa wouldn’t wake up so they took him to a hospital and they pronounced him dead. They didn’t have time to drive back to their own house or stay in the state and fill out the death certificate so they took him with them in their trunk. Later the dad honks the horn but the horn wouldn’t stop honking so they had to drive down the highway with the horn going. Because of that a police pulled them over and the police went to check the trunk but luckily he didn’t notice the dead body (I don’t know how). Another thing is while there at the hospital Olive picked up some tests to see if your color blind and her brother took the test and failed. You can’t be a jet pilot if your color blind so he has a melt down and finally talks. They finally got to the competition and Olive since she is kind of chunky and ugly she had no clue what she was doing on stage. She embarrassed the family at first with her dance UT then they embraced it and got on stage with her. Unfortunately they got kicked out of the pageant and banned from ever being in another pageant in the state of California. They were kind of upset at first but then they realized it’s not a big deal and were just happy to be a family. They got really close because of the trip and so it was a good thing they traveled all the way out there. ( word count 490)

baby mama

Baby Mama is about a woman who has tried every way to get a baby but it just won’t happen so she gets a surrogate. At first Kate (the woman wanting a baby) gets interviewed by a woman (Angie) who isn’t as classy as she wanted but well enough. Angie picks Kate and so they do the procedure and Angie tells Kate that it worked. So Kate is really excited that she is actually going to be a mom. She starts getting very controlling and when Angie gets in a fight with her boyfriend and moves in with Kate that’s when it’s the worse. Kate won’t let Angie eat anything fattening or processed everything has to be organic. She also won’t let her dye her hair or cause any arm to her body. They get in a lot of fights over stupid things. You figure that Angie wasn't really pregnant in the very beginning and was just in it for the money but ten she really does get pregnant but it’s not Kate’s it Angie’s boyfriends. So Kate can’t forgive her and kicks her out. Through the whole movie Kate gets a boyfriend and they hang out a lot but he doesn’t approve of surrogacy so she keeps it’s a secret. In the very end of the movie you figure out that Kate is pregnant somehow and it’s her boyfriends.so everybody ends up happy in the end. This movie is so funny because both of the main characters are comedians on SNL. My favorite part in the movie is either when Kate tries to get Angie to take a huge pill or when they go to birthing class and the instructor thinks they’re lesbians. Kate tries to get Angie to take a pill to make sure her baby doesn’t have a pinhead but the pill is huge and Angie refuses. She tries so many things like putting it in a sandwich and forcing it down it just doesn’t happen. When they go to the birthing class the instructor it a ditz and she has a really bad lisp and thinks that Angie and Kate are lesbians. It’s funny because they do stuff in the class where it makes both of them uncomfortable because it’s a birthing class for couples. It’s a hilarious movie and if you haven’t seen it, I would suggest you go see it even though it’s been out for a few years. (word count 427)

Drake & Josh

Drake and Josh is a hilarious television show that use to be on Nickelodeon. It was about two step brothers one of them is really popular ad attractive while the other one is a chubby nerd that has to follow the rules. Drake (the attractive one) is always getting Josh (the nerdy one) in trouble. It’s so funny because whenever they get into a bad situation drake just blows it off but Josh has a complete meltdown. They also have a little sister named Megan. She is probably the worst little sister you could ever imagine because she acts like a little angel around the parents but is a complete devil child when she talks to the guys. She also plans really good ideas to prank people. In one episode Drake and Josh were standing in their room then suddenly the floor collapsed and they fell through the ground, they thought it was a coincidence until they saw Megan standing over them laughing. So she is just a really mean little sister that I’m glad I don’t have. One of my favorite episodes is when Drake and Josh decide to get back at their sister. Megan just got a new telescope in the mail and she was using it every night to look at the stars. So Josh being the nerd he is made a CD that looked like an alien ship and set it up with the telescope so when Megan looked through it looked like there was an alien ship up in the sky. When Megan went to go use it and saw the UFO she freaked out and told everybody but nobody believed her. Drake and Josh took this prank one step further they set up a device and told Megan she can try to communicate to the aliens through it. But instead of her actually communicating with the alien it was going to be them on the other end. Finally to end the prank they dressed in alien outfits and humped out when Megan was using her telescope she was finally filled in on what they were doing and was really mad. So one night Drake, Josh, and Megan were all outside with the telescope and suddenly they saw lights coming from behind their gate then suddenly what they thought were actual aliens came from behind the gate and chased all of them. Megan acted scared but really she was just getting back at them for what they did to her. I love this episode because it’s so funny. No matter how hard Drake and Josh try they can never prank Megan as well as she can prank them. The funniest part about it is she is so young and Drake and Josh are teenager boys who can never figure out what she will do next. This was such a good show and really upset when they ended it. I still see it on from time to time and it makes me really happy because this was a classic.(Word count: 507)

Water Boy is a hilarious movie starring Adam Sandler. It takes place in Louisiana and Adam comes from a family of just him and his mom and he is not very smart because he has never been put in school. He is thirty years old and is a water boy for college football team who doesn’t appreciate how much works he puts into making the perfect water for them. He ends up getting fired from that job so he tries to find another college to water boy for. Bobby eventually finds a very low class college with a horrible football team, he doesn’t even get paid but he still does it for fun. Well they start to make booby mad by making fun of him and one day he just snaps and tackles one of the football players. The coach wants to put him on the team but he doesn’t think mama will let him play. The coach tries to convince mama to let Bobby play football but she thinks football is the “Devil”. Bobby starts to play behind her back and the football team slowly starts to get better. They eventually get to the top of the charts and so does Bobbies name. Mama figures out what Bobby was doing and she pretends to be really sick and goes to the hospital. Bobby quits football right before they need him for the big game. In the end mama admits that she was faking and lets him play. They win and Bobby gets married to his dream girl. Even though the story line seems pretty Hollywood the movie is so funny just because the characters are so ridiculous. The mom thinks everybody is the devil. Bobby is so stupid and naive. The coach’s assistant speaks gibberish and nobody can understand a word he is saying. And of course it takes place in the south and the point of the movie is showing the worse of them. Even though it’s a stupid funny it’s still a good movie and anybody would enjoy this movie. (word count 380)

Beauty fa daysss

Lately I have had an obsession with Lauren Conrad. If you don’t know who she is, she was on Hills which was a reality show that used to be on MTV but now she is an author. She had some bad experiences with TV and wanted to get away so that’s why she is an author now. She has written fiction and nonfiction books. I haven’t read her fiction books but I do own one of her nonfiction books and I absolutely love it! It’s a book that gives you pointers on how to do makeup, nails, hair, and how to take care of your skin. I’ve learned so many things that I would have never guessed would work. One of my favorite chapters is the skin chapter. Lauren Conrad talks about how take care of your skin and what is best for it. One really interesting thing I learned is that where you have zits is caused by different things. For instance if have zits on your forehead they are caused by stress, zits in between your eyebrows are caused by eating bad, and zits on your cheeks are caused by your immune system, so if you were sick you might get zits on your cheek. I also learned that any skin care lotion, wash, or cream that is scented is bad for your skin because even though you like the smell, they add unneeded chemicals to get the smell which can be dangerous for your skin. Another one of my favorite chapters is the makeup section. These days a lot of girls like to wear A LOT of makeup, so she teaches you how to apply, what looks best on certain skin types, and what you shouldn’t do when it comes to putting on makeup. Some of the things are pretty obvious like don’t have foundation lines, don’t have raccoon eyes, and don’t wear crazy eye shadow. Lauren Conrad taught me where to put my concealer, foundation and bronzer. I use to think that you just spread it evenly but there are actually places to put them to make your skin and face structure look better. This book helped me a lot, it taught me things I would have never guessed worked, or was bad. I love makeup and hair and trying new things with it, so this book opened me to new things. If you like these kinds of things I would highly recommend that you go out and buy it. It’s a great book and after you read it, you will look great too! (word count 445)

The Notebook... Enough said

Lemme tell yah The Notebook is a classic love story and is loved by millions. It’s about an old couple where the wife has Alzheimer and the husband goes and reads her journal to her about how they met in hopes that she will remember him. The movie starts out with the old couple and it switches between them being old and young. Noah (husband) and Allie (wife) come from opposite worlds, Noah is very poor and Allie has never worked a day in her life. At first Noah tries so hard just to get Allies attention but she just blows him off. Noah doesn't give up easily and when he sees something he wants he’s just got to have it! After a while Allie starts to fall for Noah and soon after they fall in love and are inseparable. Of course Allies parents don't approve of her dating this dirty low class guy and they make her move and go to college when they are still madly in love. Noah sends her letters every day for a year but he never gets a response and after the year goes by he stops trying and hopes to move on. It turns out that Allies mom has been keeping the letters hidden from her so she thinks Noah moved on but in reality he hasn't. So Allie finds another guy and gets engaged but right as this happens Noah shows up in her life and she has to make the decision between the two. In the end you figure out that Noah and Allie are the old couple and it’s a very touching moment. Notebook is my favorite romantic movie for one of two reasons; the first one is because it made me cry and the second reason is because Noah is played by Ryan Gosling who is my favorite actor. They do such a good job of not letting you figure out that the old people are the couple until the end. And when the moment hits you where you figure out you just can’t help but cry! My favorite part in the whole movie is when Allie and Noah go on the boat ride on Noah's lake and its starts rain. You figure out that Noah wrote all the letters and he didn't want to give up, he still cared and so did Allie. It’s very intense and even though I have seen the movie a billion times I still get goose bumps when they yell at each other in the rain. I can’t even start to begin how amazing this movie is! It doesn't matter whether you're a girl or guy you still need to see this movie. Anybody of any age would enjoy it; it’s the classic love story. And if you haven't seen it yet, go out and buy it because you will want to watch it over and over again! (486 Words)

F.U.N

Everybody once in their life have seen SpongeBob whether it was an old or new episode. Its either you like SpongeBob or you hate it. I personally can't get enough of it! To me the older, original episodes are the best. I think my overall favorite episode is FUN. It is about SpongeBob trying to turn plankton good. At first Plankton is really stubborn and mean but then SpongeBob sings the FUN song and it suddenly turns Planktons mood and he becomes nice. SpongeBob and Plankton start to become best friends and do everything together. They end up going to go see a movie and SpongeBob takes out a krabby patty for a snack and Plankton steals it. You figure out Plankton was just putting on a nice act to get the formula. The reason why I like that episode so much is because of the FUN song. If you're a fan of SpongeBob you know the FUN song. You can definitely tell the difference between a new and old episode of SpongeBob. The older ones look more blurry and SpongeBob has a different narrator. I personally think that the newer SpongeBob has a whinier voice. Also the more recent episodes I would say have a different sense of humor. Even though the original are really good and they're classics I think the newer ones have a better sense of humor. When you are younger you sometimes don’t pick up on all the jokes, but now that I’m older I realize a lot of funny things I missed in the dialog, even in the older episodes. I think that’s why I still enjoy watching this show. Even though a lot of people say it’s immature, SpongeBob has a lot of jokes fitted into their episodes you wouldn’t pick up unless you were older to actually understand them. To me SpongeBob is funnier than ever! (314 words)

FATTT AMYYY

Over break I went to the movies with a group of friends. We chose to go to the movie “Pitch Perfect”… and let me tell yah it was hilarious. I’m pretty sure I laughed eighty percent of the movie, there was constantly a funny line coming out of someone’s life the entire movie.

            To give you an overview of the movie the setting was at a college. It dealt with different groups you can be a part of during your stay at college and one of the groups was an all acapella singing group. The group in the movie went to different competitions trying to win a big title. The movie was basically all the challenges they went through to get there.

            One of the characters of the movie was “Fat Amy” she was personally my favorite in the movie, some of the things that came out of her mouth were just hilarious to the point where I just couldn’t stop laughing. Here are some of the things that she said:

1.       “You call yourself Fat Amy?”… “Yeah, that way twig B****s like you don’t do it behind my back.”

2.      “Sometimes I have the feeling that I can do crystal meth but then I think, hmmm, better not.”

3.      “Les-be-honest”

4.      “I’m gonna finish you like a piece of cheesecake.”

5.      “Yeah, don’t put me down for cardio.”

6.      “What are you doing” … “Horizontal Running”

 

Too sum her up; she was a very rude yet funny person.  She also had a British accent which just made it all ten times funnier. Her real name is Rebel Wilson; she is in another favorite movie of mine “Bridesmaids”.

If you have ever seen Bridesmaids or The Hangover movies, I think you would really enjoy this movie. I have heard both good and bad things about it. Majority of the people I have talked to think it’s funny but some people have said the purpose of the movie was stupid. When someone told me that I thought about other funny movies and usually funny movies aren’t made to have a good purpose but to solely make you laugh and have a good time. Regardless if you like funny movies or not you should definitely rent or buy this movie when it comes out because it is seriously tears running down your face hilarious! Also you will never forget Fat Amy; she will definitely leave an impact in your life. (408)

The Campaign is a movie about two men running for a spot in congress in their small district. The movie is hilarious because the two guys running against each other are Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell. Will Ferrell plays a narcissistic congress man who at first is only running against himself. But the Zach Galfianakis plays a very religious family man who is convinced by his father to run against Will. They start to campaign against each other and it starts off like a regular campaign but then they start to try to get worse and worse. Will always seemed like he was getting a bad rep because he punched a baby and a dog and he also got caught drunk driving. Zach was always made fun of how he was very weak and a push over so he got himself a guy to help him with his campaign. He redid his whole house and look of Zach so Zach would look for authoritative and in charge This movie is so funny because of what they do to each other. It first started off with Will smack talking Zach then it just worse from there. At times the movie was really inappropriate (hints rated R) but I still thought it was hilarious. My favorite part of the movie was when Zach was eating dinner with his wife and two sons. His two sons are chubby and they are very religious. This was when Zach was first joining the campaign and he asked his family to tell him everything, if they lied or did something bad he wanted to hear it from them instead of the press. Zach promised he would not get mad no matter what they said. It started off with his youngest son telling him that he used god name in vain that day at school. But then the lies and stories kept getting worse and worse. I’m not going to mention them because they got I little inappropriate but it was still hilarious. The whole time Zach was trying so hard not to get mad but some of the stuff they were telling them I wouldn’t even want to know about my kids. To me they were just being a little too honest! This movie was great and they picked the perfect guys to play the roles. Will has that cocky side that he’s really good at playing and Zach has that really innocent girly kind of personality. They are also some of the funniest actors/ comedians I know. I really suggest everybody over the age of 15 to go see this movie because it was hilarious and the story line was great. I hate politics and think they very boring but they mad politics easy to understand and funny to watch. (465 Words)

Modernnnn Family

Modern Family is probably one of the funniest sitcoms there is. They have won awards for having such good actors and humor on the show. The show is about three different families that are all related. The first family is Phil, Claire, Alex, Luke, and Hailey. Claire is the control freak that bosses around everybody. Phil is probably my favorite on the show because he tries to wear the pants in the family and keep a positive attitude the whole time but everybody just makes fun of him and pushes him around. The daughter Alex and Hailey are complete opposites, Alex is really smart and doesn’t care about the way she looks while Hailey is not the sharpest tool in the shed and only cares about her appearance. Luke is the youngest and is very naive to everything; he also thinks that his dad is he coolest person in the world. Claire's brother Mitchell who is married to his gay partner named Cameron and they have an adopted girl named Lily. Mitchell is also uptight like Claire, while Cameron is very theatrical and not afraid of expressing his feelings. They are both very proud to be gay and if somebody makes fun of them they will confront them. Even though Cameron is very feminine he tries to act like the tuff guy who drives trucks and likes sports even though that’s not him at all. Finally there is Claire and Mitchell's dad named Jay, he is married to his second wife named Gloria and he has a step son named Manny. Jay isn’t a very excepting man; he doesn’t like how Mitchell is gay and he doesn’t like Phil at all. He is the kind of man who doesn’t express his feeling and if something is wrong to him he has to fix it the way he wants. His wife Gloria is a young, beautiful, and South American with a very strong accent and love for her home country. She tries to make everybody feel better and is willing to accept anybody as her friend or family. Their son Manny is the same age as Luke but is far more intelligent. He is attracted to girls and is always trying to impress them with poems and is intellectuality, it doesn’t work half of the time but he never stops trying. Each family has their own problems and situations and sometimes all three families have the same problem. But somehow they always figure out a solution and move on with their lives. Each episode teaches you a moral about family, work, friends, or how to make a bad situation turn good. It gets chaotic but by the end of the show they make it work. I like this show because I can relate to situations that I’ve gone through with my own family, but they make it funny and good to watch. If you have never seen this show I would suggest watching it, there is no way you wouldn’t appreciate it. (501 words)

lazy weekend 101

Let’s just say this past weekend was most likely considered “LAZY” weekend. While laying in my bed I came upon “Workaholics” which is a hilarious new show that I found on Netflix, but I’m pretty sure it plays on Fox. It’s about three very laid back guys who all work at the same office job. They even share the same cubicle. These guys are the kind of people who don’t care about serious things they are always looking for fun and getting themselves in trouble. It’s so funny how dumb they can be. Each episode is a different story line, so you never know to expect with the next episode. For instance the first episode was about a drug test at their work, the second episode was about going to a baseball game, and the third episode was about somebody breaking into their office at night. So each episode has nothing to do with the next. I like it like that, with this series at least, because you don’t want it to be predicting, and the last thing these guys are is predicting.

Blake is probably the most immature out of the three; he is also the one who does the most drugs. Then there is Anders who is the one that keeps the other two in check, he is always the one telling them it’s a bad idea but does it anyways. And then there is Adam, he is my favorite because he is the funniest; he thinks he’s really good looking and strong but really he is just a total loser. So as you can imagine these three guys are not really up to any good.

This show is pretty inappropriate and I would suggest to anyone under 15 because these guys are a pretty bad influence. The reason why I consider its inappropriate is that the guys use a lot of drugs and alcohol in the show. For instance the third episode was about them on shrooms. So younger people should probably not be watching this, some people might think I’m too young for the show even. I think it’s hilarious and addicting, personally I can’t stop watching it. If you’re in-between the ages of 15 and 25 I imagine you would really like this show and I suggest watching it because I have really enjoyed it so far. (391 words)

Les Miserables

Les Miserables is a famous play and has recently been made into a film. This movie is three hours long and has about 10 words in monologue and the rest is them singing. Even though that doesn’t sound very desirable for a lot of people this movie is AMAZING. I went into the theatre kind of hesitant because that’s all I heard about it but I came out not regretting a second of it.

This movie takes place in France during a war. It starts out with a man who was thrown into jail for years because he stole a piece of bread. He finally got onto parole and tried to get back into life but everywhere he went he had problems with people excepting him. He found his way to a priest’s house and he said he can stay the night but in the middle of the night the man stole gold from the priest. The man was caught the next day and instead of the priest throwing him back in jail he forgave him and told him to do something with the gold and to get back on his feet. That’s exactly what he did; he opened his own business and became a successful man. A few years goes by and he fires a women who works his factory but later figures out that she really needed the job because she was trying to get money for her daughter. The women ends up dying and the man decided to take custody over the daughter name Cosette. More time goes by and Cosette and Jean the man are on a run from the police because the parole officer doesn’t like him and figured out that he’s done more bad. But while there on the run Cosette ran into a man and instantly they both fell in love with each other. But Jean doesn’t want Cosette to fall in love at first and tries to keep them away from each other for their own good.

I won’t spoil the ending. But if you haven’t seen it you really need to because it is absolutely beautiful! & yes I said beautiful that’s how amazing it was! I thought I wouldn’t like all the singing but they brought me to tears, and I’m not an easy crier. Everything about this movie is great. Now I want to see the play on Broadway to see what they do differently, I heard it was even better so I couldn’t even begin to imagine. Ahhhh talking about it just makes me smile(: (428 words)

Olympus Has Fallen

Olympus has Fallen, yes I said it! I just saw this movie last weekend and it was very good. Almost the entire movie I was on the edge of my seat and ready for all the action to happen. If you read my blog then you already know that my top favorite movies are the ones about the world ending or overall really bad things happening to the country, I don’t exactly know why I am so obsessed with these types of movies but they always get me going. The movies always make me think “What If”… so if something terrible truly happened what would we do and at what lengths would we (America) do these things. The movie is basically about the president having a conference at the white house with North Korean officials to talk about foreign trade issues, when suddenly a terrorist attack happens on the white house and surrounding areas of the white house, people become hostages and hostages become heroes. The movie was seriously SO good. It was never boring and the entire time you just were on edge and wanted to know what was going to happen next, and at some points you even get a little teary eyed. My main conclusion to this movie was it was “KICK ASS”. Now, let’s talk about the actors, I mean you have the one and only Gerald Butler oh and you can’t forget Samuel Lee Jackson. They were some of the main characters in the movie and portrayed both of their roles very well and approving. Gerald Butler was the main character to the movie and he is the one that kicked ass, his character was a CIA agent and knew pretty much everything and anything. He also wasn’t that bad to look at the entire movie, but we can talk about that later(: Samuel never seems to let me down with the movies he is in, I have not came upon a movie with in it that I would say I didn’t like, because he is one of best and my personal favorite actors. His role he portrayed in the movie wasn’t that big but he still did a really good job. The movie could not have been played without them and they made it as good as it truly was. I really do not think that anyone can dislike this movie, I would recommend it to anyone that likes action and likes the “World is Ending” type movies. The movie satisfied me and you should definitely get up and go watch it. (Word Count 430)

Woahhhh there netflixxxx

Woahhhhhh, I found a movie on Netflix that somehow i actually liked:O Timer is a movie based on the future. It’s a Netflix movie so most people haven’t seen it endless they have Netflix of course. In the movie they have this new thing called the timer and what it is is a little device you can get put into your wrist and it counts down how many days, months or years you have until you meet your soul mate. It only works if both of the people have it and if your soul mate didn’t get one yet then the device is just blank. So it starts out with this woman who goes on dates and after a few dates she takes them to the timer place to get a device in their wrist and if they don’t match up then she breaks up with him. Hers has been blank for years and she is just trying to find the right guy. Her sister has one too but she has years until she is supposed to meet her soul mate so she just dates for fun. Her sister finally convinces her that she needs to stop worrying about her timer and start to date people. She takes her advice and starts to date a guy with a timer who is supposed to meet his soul mate in only in a few months. So of course she is hesitant at first she ends up really liking this guy. Now her sister also met a guy who doesn’t believe in timers and refuses to get one and starts to really like him. You soon figure out that the one guy’s timer is fake and he just wears it to attract ladies so she thinks that they are really supposed to be soul mates. I won’t tell you the end because there is a good twist, so you will have to watch it yourself. I watch really random movies on Netflix so I just ended up choosing that one. Most of them don’t turn out to be very good and I stop them half way through but I watched this one till the end so thats really saying something. It’s a good love story but with weird twists through the whole movie. I bet you could find this movie at any movie store also but it’s old so you would have to look for a while. I would still recommend you find this movie and watch it, even though it’s not a Grammy winner, next time you’re on Netflix and can’t find anything search Timer and you will appreciate compared to some of the other movies on Netflix.(460 words)

childhood gone downhill

Disney was my favorite channel for my whole childhood. I remember watching all the classics like Lizzy Maguire, That’s So Raven, and Hannah Montana. They were such good shows because they were funny without being inappropriate but they weren't stupid about it.

Nowadays they replaced all the old shows with these new ones and I think everybody that watched Disney channel would agree that they have definitely gone downhill. For instance it started to get bad when the Suite Life of Zach and Cody went from being in a hotel to a ship. Then they had horrible cartoons come along like Fish Hooks which I don’t think is very funny at all and kind of annoying. Now they don’t have Wizards of Waverly Place or even Suite Life and all the shows that I knew as a kid are gone and have been replaced. The newest show they have is called Dog with a Blog. And just by the name you can tell that it is beyond horrible! The main character is a dog that is real but they put in “special graphics” so the dogs mouth moves with what he is saying. I haven’t actually watched this show and I have no motivation to do so, just seeing the previews I wanted to change the channel.

I believe that Disney should stop making new shows and just replay all the old episodes. I don’t watch Disney at all anymore but if they started to play the old episodes that would probably be the only thing I watch. I don’t care that there wouldn't be any new episodes because if they started from season one of all the shows I wouldn't even remember them and it would be like a new experience all over again! I don’t think anybody would disagree with me especially kids from my decade. I also believe if Disney did this they would have so many more viewers! So it would be a win/win situation. 

It’s not only the old shows that were better but the original Disney movies were also better. I’m talking about the movies that Disney channel made, even though the princess ones are classic, but I think that Disney channel should play there old original ones. Aka High School Musical, Pixel Perfect, Zenon, Cheetah Girls, Stuck in the Suburbs, and The Evan Stevens Movie. There are so many movies that are so good and are better than these new ones.

If it was up to me it would still be old Disney channel and I would take out all the crap they have now, it would be 10 times better! Some of you may call me a child for watching keeping up with Disney but I don’t care! Anyways I’m still considered a “child” aren't I? (479 words)

            This past Sunday something happened to me that I never not once thought would ever occur in my lifetime. My boyfriend, his brother, his brother’s girlfriend and I all decided to go to a shooting range. We all thought it was a pretty decent and warm enough day to go and that it would be fun. Soon our “fun” day came to a fast end.

            We were there and having a good time for a good hour, then something terrible happened. From the corner of my eye I saw a guy fall back and start shaking. The DNR officer ran to see what was happening and we all thought it was a seizure; we called 911 immediately thinking it was a seizure. Soon after the police arrived they began to perform CPR and soon found out that it was a gun shot that occurred not a seizure of any kind. The man was then rushed in the ambulance, and it was the scariest thing I have ever seen and or witnessed. At that very moment everyone I was with and around including me were all “suspects”. All of us were at a total loss of words, none of us had shot him of course, but they had to make sure and rule us out. Later that night the man was pronounced dead.

            This is something I thought would never ever happen to me but it did and it definitely changed me. I don’t wish this occurrence on anyone, nor should you. It made me see how precious life truly is, and a simple day at the gun range can easily turn deadly with a simple accident. It really showed me to live my life to the fullest that I can and to not let anything or anyone hold me back, because there is always that small chance that tomorrow I won’t be here anymore. I hope that when you are done reading this, you really think about it, and about your own life. “ Never take life for-granted, it could be gone in a blink of an eye…” (word count 389)

Wanelo.... best thing ever

A few blogs back I posted about my newest addiction, but sence than it has changed….Wanelo is a new social sight that is a lot like Pinterest but you can buy everything on it. I personally like it better than pinterest because not a lot of people know about it and I can buy things that you can’t find in any stores so it’s original. The only time I go on Pinterest is if I want some good craft or food ideas, I also go on it to see funny picture but I don’t look at the clothes anymore. Wanelo has everything from clothes to iPhone cases. Mostly I would say Wanelo is for girls mostly but I do know a few guys who have it. The only reason I think they have it is because Wanelo has bro tanks but other than that I can’t imagine what they are buying. Something’s are kind of ridiculous on Wanelo, for instance I saw a unicorn horn that is made for cats and you could actually buy it, which I thought was a little weird but hilarious all at the same time.

Just like all of the other social networks you can follow people and people can follow you on Wanelo. I don’t care if I have a lot of followers like I would with Twitter and Facebook because Wanelo is more for you to see, not other people. I only have 2 followers on Wanelo while I have 190 on Twitter. I only follow a few fiends because they have the same taste in things as me so if they saved something that I liked than I could save and buy it if I wanted to. And I imagine that’s the only reason other people follow me.

Instead of having a thousand different boards and pinning things into different categories all you have is you r wish list. You look at one page, there is not different categories you can go to like hair or humor. Once you see something you like you click on it and it says save or buy. If you click save it will save to your page so you can look at it later and possibly buy it if you want? If you click on buy it will take you to the website where it is selling it. I have noticed that Wanelo takes a lot of things from Urban Outfitters, which we don’t have one near us anywhere so that’s nice, and they also have a lot of things from eBay, but overall most of the stuff comes from ETSY. Sometimes the things you want are sold out which makes me kind of frustrated but that’s the only thing I don’t like Wanleo, other than that I think it’s a good site and if you’re a girl I would imagine you would like it no matter what kind of style you have. blogging these days

I honestly think blogging is a waste of time. A lot of people would agree with me too. Most students don’t keep up them. I could be doing a lot more things that I think are more productive than writing three blogs a week. For instance I could work on other homework, or study for big tests. It doesn’t help me with my writing at all because I not getting any better I’m just writing the same except a different topic each for blog. Also I don’t understand how to use blogger at all, this whole year I have not read any other blogs because I don’t know how to find my friends. Also I don’t think anybody can see my blogs because I don’t know if I’m eve posting them right so really nobody else is even reading my blogs!

As a student I don’t have time to take out of my busy week do write three blogs. I have so many other things to do like school, work, homework, sleep, and hang out with friends. Those things are way more important to me than blogs (no offense). I think the only reason we are doing these is for our writing to get better but mine is not at all improving. Most of the time I just ramble in my blogs (kind of like this one). I don’t know what to talk about anymore in them because I’ve ran out of ideas a long time ago, that’s why this blog is about why I hate writing blogs. I don’t understand how people keep one topic going through out all their blogs!

I would honestly be happier if we took out blogs and wrote more papers in class. That way I would get better at writing and I would take them more seriously. We don’t get graded on the context of our blogs; we just get graded on whether or not we did them, so how do we know we’re getting any better? We don’t. I took AP to become a better writer but all these are doing are making me hate writing even more. I’ve talked to other students and they agree with me, take them out! But I guess I’ll just have to push my way through them because it doesn’t seem like they’re getting changed anytime soon. Maybe sooner or later the teachers will get a hint…. elephant's graveyard

Elephant’s graveyard is an amazing play and an awesome reader’s theatre. I saw it as a reader’s theatre and I started to cry it was done so well. The story starts out in a small town where there isn’t much money or entertainment. One day they figure out that the circus is coming to town and everybody freaks out because most of them have never seen a circus, so it was a pretty big deal. They also learned that the circus had an elephant and the elephants name was Mary. They couldn’t believe what they saw when Mary first came to town. They were so amazed at how huge this land animal could be. Everybody in town fell in love with the elephant and they never wanted Mary to leave. On the day of the parade, the one that Mary got to walk in, something went terribly wrong. Mary freaked out and was stomping everywhere when she stomped on a man. At that moment Mary was once loved by everyone but is now a murderer. Even though the town didn’t want to kill their beloved Mary they knew she was a danger to everyone. I won’t tell you the end of the play just in case you want to go see it.

Even though I'm not a very big fan of dramatic plays, I fell in love with this. The reader’s theatre I saw was very good, there wasn’t an actual elephant in the room with them but they made Mary seem so real that I was in tears when I figured out that Mary had turned bad. Just in case you don’t know what readers theatre is, it's kind of like a play but instead of memorizing lines and acting it out, they have their scripts in front of them and they talk to the audience. They still act and have emotion but it’s a little different from just a regular play. I know this year our reader’s theatre for speech is doing Elephants Graveyard and I'm so excited to see it or maybe be in it! It’s a great play and if you haven’t seen it try and go watch it somewhere, you won’t regret it, I know I didn’t. (372 words)

pin errrthanggg

One of the newer media sights is called Pinterest, and to tell you the truth I am badly addicted. It’s not like all the others because you don’t really have it to interact with other people like Facebook and twitter; you use it more for your own personal amusement. Pinterest is just pictures that people put up and the more likes and pins it gets the more popular it comes. There are different pages to go to, for instance you have humor which is funny pictures, and you have DIY which stands for do it yourself and its mostly cute little crafts that’s made from stuff around your house. And the point of it is if you like something or want to try it then you can either like it or pin it on a board which you create. You can add friends and they can see all that you’ve pinned and vice versa. Pinterest is so addicting because you can’t stop looking at all these funny or good ideas. You don’t realize how long you’ve been reading little captions until after you log off.

Some of my favorite things to post are of coarse humor (that’s where I spend most of my time on Pinterest). But when I’m not there I like to look at food which has a lot of good recipes to try, and I also like to look at hair and beauty which is where I get a lot of my hair dews from.

One thing Pinterest just recently added was a secret board, which I LOVE. What it means is that I can pin whatever I want on this board and none of my followers can look at it. I think this is a good idea because now I can pin stuff I want to make people for a Gift/something to buy or I can pin things I just don’t want other people to see.

A lot of people would say Pinterest is a waste of time and I can see where there are getting that from. But I honestly think it’s better than being on Facebook or Twitter, at least on Pinterest I can see and come up with cooking, hair, diet, or furniture ideas that would help me in the future. So I would say Pinterest is better than Twitter and Facebook, I feel like you get more done than you would on the other social media sites. Make sure you are careful though because it is majorly addicting! (416 words)

women vs. reality

                Last week in AP Lang & Comp we began to discuss and watch the documentary called “Miss Representation” the documentary talks strongly about gender roles and mainly about women and how we are viewed and made to be on the media and politics. The documentary really caught my attention being that I usually don’t think about things regarding women much with media, but it really began to frustrate me and got me going. In today’s media we “women” are made out to be something we aren’t, and we are very degraded on so many levels, making us want to be something that just isint possible.

            The definition of gender roles is: the public image of being a male or female that a person presents to others. In the few segments I have seen it talked a lot about how media shapes teen girls minds into wanting to be something that is impossible. It degrades girls and causes terrible things like lower self esteem issues or maybe even anorexia. Compared to about 30 years ago when being curvy was considered “beautiful” then you have today’s society where there just isn’t really a perfect. Your either fat or to skinny, there really isn’t any “in-between”. So what do we do to change that, oh yeah nothing? I feel this documentary is trying to make a stand to girls around the world.

          Every day you see some TV show or commercial or magazine that shows girls being all “sexy” and usually when you see this they are size 0, blonde hair, face full of make-up, and of course a nice fake tan, something that isn’t your “average” girl. Well yes that does appeal to guys, but that makes us teens not feel very good about ourselves. Guys call girls like that on TV “hot” and then you have all these teens wanting to be what guy’s want, which really in reality just screws everything up.

       A person that always comes to mind is Jessica Simpson, she used to be that size 0 model and big time celebrity but now days she is her true self. There is a video about her personally talking to an anorexic model that had to deal with being called fat which turned for the worst, now being that she only weighs 85 pounds. Jessica is now living her life with a nice little family and doing what she wants, not what others want.

      If we keep living like this what is it going to be like 30 years from now? What are women going to look like and what will they in general be like? If we want this outcome to be good then we all need to do something about this, we need everyone to be beautiful in their own way and actually feel it themselves as well. (472)

bridal showcase... enough said

                This past weekend I was dragged to a Bridal Showcase and let me tell yah other than the free food, it was not enjoyed one tiny bit. Being that my sister is getting married in September (the 7^th to be precise) she has A LOT to do. Now if you have never been to a bridal showcase, there are a ton of vendors there(photographers, food places, tux places, cake shops, cupcake shops, party buses, professional salons and make-up artists) the list goes on and on, let me tell yah. These showcases are almost like a slap in the face, they show you almost everything you need plus more for your wedding, down to personalized mint shops for your décor. My sister is very excited to be getting married don’t get me wrong, but with all the wedding stuff going she has become a little bit crazy, let’s just say she is “stressed”.

            My sister didn’t only drag me, but my mom, soon to be brother in law Shawn, & her friend Brooke. I think Shawn and I were the ones dreading it; Shawn was just being a wimp and thought he would be the only guy there but he was wrong. My mom was oh so excited because my oldest sister Nicole got married in Jamaica so she didn’t get to help plan a wedding or anything. Now don’t get me wrong I am so excited that Jayme is getting married to Shawn, but everything that goes along with the wedding is pretty hectic and crazy and FAST. My sister has a lot of the basic things booked like her photographer and venue and my favorite her dress! So she thought it would be a good idea to go to the bridal showcase for some ideas.

            We all traveled to the Iowa City Marriot where it was being hosted at, and when we got there my jaw dropped. There were so many people and brides, you almost had to wait in line to talk to anyone and people were rude and pushed and budged a lot. It was kind of cool to see everything that goes with a wedding and all the different ways you could do it. Jayme really liked a couple food places and decided on one to book for her wedding. The food places were my favorite; I most likely tried at least 10 kinds of cakes, and at least 5 little cupcakes, and had a lot of samples of many various appetizers and food for the wedding. That was definitely Shawn and I’s favorite part. I just really hope if we go to another one of those things it isn’t so packed, I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

            In a way it made me pretty excited for Jayme’s wedding, it is still so crazy to think my sister is moving on with her life and taking the next big step, but it is definitely a good one, and I am oh so happy for her. Knowing my sister her wedding will be everything she wants plus more. Now I am dreading to go bridesmaid dress shopping in a couple of months that will be sooooooo fun. (525)

yay for me

                Being healthy. That can mean many different things to many different people. This start of the New Year I started to become somewhat healthier, which definitely involves working out & eating right. (MY FAVORITE THING EVER)Yes, it was my New Year’s Resolution but so far I have been sticking to it pretty well. So don’t doubt me. I want to look good in September for my sister’s wedding, so that is definitely my main goal. Having a goal always helps.

            It really isn’t that bad though, being healthy can be super hard at first, at least it definitely was for me. I work in a steakhouse so I usually always drink pop and eat food after and during work, so that is something I had to stop, I started to drink water or tea because it is much healthier than dark pop. Also I stopped eating food from there because the meals are terrible for you but definitely very delicious. I have always loved fruits and vegetables and chickens so eating healthier hasn’t been that hard, the work part was probably the hardest. That was my first step it was hard but I’m doing it for the best (:

            Now the second main thing I did was started boxing class’s, my sister is an instructor so I get to try it out for a while for free. Let me tell yah, boxing classes kick your ass, the first night I started I stopped half way through and puked it was that terrible, then again I was pushing myself to hard. I am not going to lie I am still sore from class and it’s been a few weeks but at some point that has to go away, right?

            I am happy with myself and can’t wait to be even happier after I complete my goal! Working out and being healthy is very hard at first but it definitely gets easier and all in all you start to feel more confident and healthier all together. (333 words)

red dawn

                Every Christmas my cousins and I always go see a movie that night, this past Christmas we decided to go see Red Dawn. Now when I got my popcorn and candy I honestly had absolutely no idea what I was about to watch. But within the first 10 minutes it was definitely a “Sam” kind of movie (movie about the world ending or something terrible happening in the world). The movie was about North Korea basically coming over to the U.S and taking over. At the beginning of the movie in a town/region all of the electricity mysteriously went out. Then that next morning all of a sudden millions of troops came falling out of the sky starting to take over all the Americans. A group of teens got away from their hometown and began their own rebel group & eventually started to fight back.

            While sitting in the theater watching this movie of course I thought of the whole “what if” thing and situation. I mean seriously what it that happened here, it could honestly probably happen any day because North Korea is so split apart from everyone they could be planning something so terrible, yet no one would ever know until something actually really happened. It honestly, kind of scared me, but I will never know. If that did happen though I feel that America would win because we are just that awesome, good reason, I know, I know.

            Anyways the movie had Josh from the Nickelodeon show Drake & Josh aka Josh Peck which I really liked because he is a really good actor and because I haven’t seen him in any movies or shows sense then & may I add he is looking better than ever ;).

Now anyways back to the movie viewing experience. In the movie people didn’t really resist the Korean soldiers, now I know that if that really happened I’m pretty sure we all would most likely strongly resist all these guys and go into a war very very fast. So I feel that was a down-side to the movie also I didn’t like how they only showed one town and not the entire U.S., that is something I would change.

I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys world-ending movies, or movies about something terrible happening. AKA “Sam movies”(: (392 words)

a haunted house

                I’m sure that you have most likely viewed or heard about the movies “Paranormal Activity 1, 2, & 3), well while I was looking for a movie to view the other weekend with some friends we came upon the movie “A Haunted House” at first I thought it was going to be just another movie about having demons in the house or something like that. When I watched the movie trailer though I was slightly wrong, it turned out to be a movie that basically made fun of “Paranormal Activity”. Me and my friends determined that, that was the movie for us.

            Let me tell yah, the movie was hilarious! Being that I strongly dislike the paranormal movies and think that a.) They obviously aren’t real & b.)They are stupid, valid reasons I know I know. Anyways the movies were set up somewhat like the paranormal ones and were not scary at all but hilarious indeed. I laughed probably about ninety eight percent of the time.

            The main idea of the movie is about a guy named Malcolm and he has his girlfriend Keisha move in with him into his new dream house. They start to have things happen to them that the girl thinks is a ghost but Malcolm thinks it’s nothing, and soon Keisha becomes taken over by a demon. Malcolm then calls up a priest and a ghost hunter team and a physic. Well they tend to spend most of the time basically running away from Keisha but it’s really funny.

            I would recommend this movie to anyone who dislikes the Paranormal Activity movies or anyone who just wants to have a good laugh. The movie was very good and didn’t get one tiny bit boring or “stupid”. Also the main character Malcolm is played by the actor Marlon Wayans, who also starred in moves like “Scary Movie” or “White Chicks”, so he tends to be in funny movies and he’s pretty good. As long as the movie makes fun of Paranormal Activity, it has to be funny (: (344 words)

needs to stop

Bullying. Why, What, When, Where, How? Why do people bully others? What makes others bully people? When do people ever feel bad? Where does it happen? How come it happens every single day, almost anywhere? There are so many questions that come to me when I think about bullying, the biggest is just why. But in today’s society it happens everywhere and sadly it is somewhat acceptable. I’m not going to tell you ive never bullied someone because I would be lying and I’m not going to believe you if you tell me you haven’t, because everyone has done it. But, Why?

I have personally been bullied, and I’m sure many others too. Society today is full of it, but what can we do to prevent it, because frankly I’m sick of it. It’s just not funny to me anymore; it’s annoying and very degrading on so many levels. Once again, Why, What, When, Where, & How?

WHY: Why do people bully others? – People bully others either a) for their own benefit, or b) to be cruel and harmful. Why bully someone though, what exactly comes from it, the other person feeling terrible, or possibly doing something terrible as a result that’s terrible and life threatening. It’s really just not worth it, it can make not only them feel bad, but make you personally feel bad too.

WHAT: What exactly is bullying? - Bullying: may be defined as the activity of repeated, aggressive behavior intended
to hurt another person, physically or mentally. The definition itself says why you shouldn’t bully and how it’s intended!

WHEN: - When do people ever feel bad? Usually the bullier doesn’t show that they feel bad or they just really don’t, I almost think that if someone feels bad about themselves they feel better making someone feel the same way, but what does it take for you to “feel” bad? Is it possibly making someone get hurt emotionally or physically or what worth it!

WHERE:-Where does it happen? It happens EVERYWHERE every day, every single minute, & yes every single second. It doesn’t matter if you’re at school or at home or anywhere. There are so many forms and ways you can be bullied, like texting or over the internet; there aren’t usually filters for things like that.

How: - How come it happens? It happens due to the fact that in today’s society we have accepted it almost and don’t seem to worry about it that much! There are so many ways it happens and times it happens that I have seen.

In conclusion it just needs to stop. Many, many, many people are affected from it every day and it needs to be confronted and stopped.  Majority of people have done it and I don’t think everyone feels positive about it. So here is what you can do, next time you see it happening maybe you should be the person to stand up and not just sit there and watch it happen! Stand up for someone and maybe even make a difference for once. (511 words)
